Frequently asked questions
Everything to know before making a list.
You need an account to create a list. Viewing one and reserving a gift does not require an account.
Why put so many ideas on one list?
A well-stocked list gives useful guidance without dictating a gift. Friends and family can choose according to their budget and taste. People who manage the list can see reservations.
Do I need an account to view a list?
No. Anyone with the link can view the list and reserve a gift. If the list is password-protected, they’ll also need to enter its password.
What does reserving a gift do?
It lets others know someone intends to give that gift. No purchase or payment is made through the site.
Can I build a list with someone else?
Yes. Send them the editing invitation link. They’ll need to log in or create an account before joining the list.
Who can see reservations?
People managing the list can view its reservations. If the list is for you, it’s best to avoid that screen — unless you’re also the sort of person who turns the house upside down looking for hidden Christmas presents. On the shared list, gift givers can also recognize their own reservations in the same browser or through their account.
Can I cancel a reservation?
Yes, if you made it with your account or from the same browser. The gift then becomes available again.
Are gift links tracked for commercial purposes?
No. The project does not add affiliate tracking and does not sell browsing data. Links go directly to the websites entered with each gift idea.
Can I host the app myself?
Yes. The code is open source, and the repository includes deployment instructions.
