Why this project?
Plenty of ideas. Gifts people genuinely want.
In our family, we write down gift ideas throughout the year. We deliberately keep more ideas than we need, so friends and family can choose something we’ll love. People who manage the list can see reservations.
The extra-full wish list
A good wish list doesn’t dictate one exact gift. It offers enough possibilities for the gift giver to choose. Small treats, special objects, books, experiences: variety makes choosing easier.
Before this app
We used a no-code tool that wasn’t designed for this purpose. Existing services didn’t suit us: commercial link tracking, ads, mandatory accounts just to view a list, or no way to build a list together.
An open-source project
The project is open source and self-hostable, so anyone can inspect it, adapt it, or run their own copy.
Will anyone else need it?
We don’t know yet whether this app will be useful beyond our family. We do wholeheartedly recommend the extra-full wish list: it leaves the choice to the person giving the gift, and reservations stay visible to the people managing the list.
